Ben is the sweet and loving, sassy and fiery 3-year-old son of Stephanie Hawkins, a teacher at RBV High School. When Ben was 6 weeks old, he was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF), a genetic, chronic (terminal) illness that mostly affects the lungs and digestive system. About the CFF
As stated on cff.org, “The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care.”
Very little government funding supports research on CF, whereas approximately $.90 of every dollar donated to the CFF goes toward research, and donations to the CFF are tax deductible.
